Description
The LIGHTEST axle-back exhaust solution in existence for the NC MX5, with a hanger system far superior to other minimalist exhaust options! Coming in at a mere 3 lbs for the turn-down AND the hanger system combined, this saves every pound possible for maximum weight savings, while ensuring solid support and isolation of the exhaust system. Compared to the factory muffler at 26 lbs this is a huge weight savings, and all out past the axle where weight savings are even more beneficial to reduce the moment of inertia and improve handling and performance.
Constructed of all 304 stainless steel and TIG welded with proper backpurging of the welds to ensure longevity for years to come.
2.75″ pipe diameter. Slotted bolt holes in the flange allow fit up to most aftermarket midpipes sized 2.25″ and larger.
Hanger system: Other muffler deletes or minimalist single-side mufflers only utilize one of the factory muffler hangers on the passenger side of the vehicle. This doesn’t balance the weight of the exhaust properly and introduces a twisting force to the exhaust system, which can cause fitment issues, rubber hangers wearing out over time, and worse. This muffler delete includes a hanger system that utilizes TWO of the factory rubber muffler hangers; one on the left and one on the right. This centers the weight of exhaust between the hangers and keeps the exhaust located and supported correctly as Mazda intended. The hanger system is made of hollow stainless steel tubing to minimize weight, and is gusseted to ensure strength and rigidity.
Exit location makes this valid for use in any competition classes that specify the exhaust must exit behind the rear axle, or that do not specify an exit location at all. The exhaust exit is angled downwards slightly to direct the exhaust flow down towards the ground below the rear bumper. Compatible with the factory rear bumper without any modifications.
Designed first and foremost for race cars and those who want the maximum in weight savings and performance. Obviously, any exhaust without a muffler will be loud! This should not come as a surprise to those considering this exhaust.
